Get ready for your Graduation Photoshoot

Your college graduation is a special moment to celebrate your hard work and hitting an important life milestone. Graduation photoshoots are a popular way to capture your achievement for yourself and to share with your family and friends.

So how can you make the best of your graduation photoshoot? What does the graduation photoshoot booking process look like?

To begin, make sure that you have your graduation regalia ready to go. This includes everything from your college sashes, school organization sashes, a cap, and an optional gown. Many graduation pictures tend to be taken without a gown so it allows for your outfit to be shown, however, there can be a mix of pictures both with and without a graduation gown.

Graduation caps are often decorated to portray a unique and meaningful message. Pinterest and Instagram will be your friend to search for quality inspiration on how to decorate your graduation cap or even entire graduation looks! On Pinterest, you can search up anything broad from “graduation cap design” to specific things like “disney graduation cap”. On Instagram you can similarly do the same using hashtags like #graduationcap or #disneygraduationcap

Next, keep in mind the area(s) on campus or a location where you would want your graduation pictures. Most graduation pictures are taken on the college campus attended but having a graduation shoot off campus is also an option. Remember, this is where you get to have some fun with it!

Below is an instance of using a location that is located off campus or near campus. Some universities like Cal State Fullerton have an arboretum or garden nearby that could offer a great location to take graduation pictures. However, make sure to see if that location requires any photo permits which may come at an additional cost for your booking.

Or look into any other favorite locations you might have in mind. For example, the image below was taken at Corona Del Mar Lookout Point with a family graduation photoshoot package.

Last but definitely the most important, utilize what your campus has to offer! If you have decided that you will stick to having your graduation photoshoot being on campus, make sure to have an idea of where you would want this to be. If you have not been on campus in a while due to online learning, visit and scope out the area! Keep an eye out for all that Spring has to offer with blooming trees and greenery.

If you are feeling bold, university water fountains can be used as your playground. Save this till the end of your shoot so if you decide to jump in your clothes will not be wet for the rest of the pictures.

Using props is another fun way to incorporate fun into your graduation shoots. However, it is important to note that things like glitter and streamers usually end up being littered on campus and to avoid these products. Instead, go for things like real flowers, real flower petals, or hole punched leaves that act as a natural confetti.

For your graduation photoshoot outfit, you have the freedom to choose what will make you feel and look your best. This also plays a large role in your graduation photos so you can think outside of the box! Cultural and traditional wear is a unique approach you can take to your pictures or you can simply dress it up for a professional or formal look.

Depending on who you book a graduation photoshoot with, keep in mind what is offered in their graduation packages. For example, my graduation packages all differ depending on the time allotted, how many locations that can be shot in, and how many images you can expect. I offer unlimited outfit changes within each package that can help to shoot a few different outfit looks.

Remember to have fun with your graduation shoot! We are celebrating YOU!
